Abstract
Charge-recombination luminescence from 27 cm2 films of poly-(N-vinylcarbazole) (PVK), alone or doped with 2,4,7-trinitrofluorenone, was greatly reduced when the temperature was suddenly changed from 294 to 273 K during the decay. The instantaneous drop in luminescence corresponded to mean activation energies of 0.4-0.6 eV, in excellent agreement with previous indirect estimates of the energies of deep traps in PVK. The "missing" luminescence from the cooled films could be recovered as excess thermoluminescence on warming to 353 K.
