Abstract
This project presents the design and implementation of a fully automated part inspection and sorting system for classifying metal and non-metal parts within a Flexible Manufacturing System (FMS) integrated with Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA). The system uses an inductive proximity sensor to detect metal and non-metal parts on a motor-driven conveyor, while an Allen Bradley Micro 850 PLC coordinates the FANUC LR Mate 200iC robot, inductive proximity sensor, photoelectric sensor, and conveyor for synchronized automated control. The FANUC LR Mate 200iC robot performs pick-and-place operations that segregate good parts into a green container and bad parts into a red container, reducing manual intervention and improving inspection accuracy. The integrated automation cell improves productivity, supports more accurate inspection, and contributes to higher product quality and more efficient manufacturing workflows.
