Abstract
Exceptional points (EPs) are spectral singularities at which two or more eigenvalues of a non-Hermitian operator, together with their corresponding eigenvectors, coalesce. Recent studies on the EPs have revealed many intriguing phenomena, such as unidirectional visibility and laser self-termination [1,2]. However, EPs were accessible below the laser threshold in the aforementioned works, namely, the system is inherently linear.
