Abstract
The synthesis of a novel hapten-carrier protein conjugate, (E)-4-(3-hydroxy-1-propenyl)-2-methoxyphenol-bovine serum albumin (coniferyl alcohol-BSA), is described. This method is particularly useful for the synthesis of monolignol-protein conjugates by linking β-C of monolignol side-chain and the amino group of protein through a -CH2CO- linker. Coniferyl alcohol-BSA conjugate was used to raise rabbit polyclonal antibodies as a probe for the further investigation of the biogenesis of coniferyl alcohol in plant cells by an immunoelectron microscopy technique. © 1991.
