Abstract
The development and use of a Markov model for estimating the lifetime reliability of structural systems is presented. System failure is assumed to be the occurrence of adjacent member failures. The model was developed to allow the inclusion of time-variant member resistances. The use of the model is discussed for wood structural systems.
