Abstract
Temperature-sensitive (ts) mutants of Bacillus subtilis phage SP82 previously assigned to 17 separate cistrons were found to comprise a single linear linkage group (Kahan, 1966). These temperature-sensitive mutants have now been examined for their ability to perform "early" and "late" functions at the nonpermissive temperature. Cistrons 1, 2, 3, and 18 of B. subtilis phage SP82, which are clustered on the genetic map, are shown to be blocked in phage DNA synthesis and lysis of host cells.
