Abstract

The electron paramagnetic resonance absorption spectrum of tetravalent chromium in ruby is re‐examined at X‐band wavelengths. Spectral parameters are provided from data obtained at 4.2 K. Among these, the strength of the orthorhombic component to the crystalline electric field is given along with a suggestion of its associated direction.
