Abstract
While attending the Rochester Mineralogical Symposium for the first time in 1987, I was told by some friends that I needed to meet someone there who had a passion for understanding the physical causes of the morphology of crystals and was apparently quite good at it. I was curious to meet this person who shared my interests and was soon introduced to Pete Richards, who was examining some crystals in one of the dealer’s rooms.
