Abstract

To study the relationship between workability and compaction property of rubber asphalt mixture, the Superpave gyratory compactor (SGC) and the self-developed workability test equipment were used to test the workability and compaction property of rubber asphalt mixture at different temperatures. The appropriate compaction temperatures and the powder fineness corresponding to different powder dosages were recommended. The results show that, when the powder dosage is 25%, the powder fineness has the greatest influence on the compaction process. When the compaction temperature is 190℃, the powder dosage has the greatest influence on the compaction process. When the fineness is 80 mesh, the compaction temperature has the greatest influence on the compaction process. The better the workability of rubber asphalt mixture, the better the compaction property. When the powder contents are 5% and 15%, the recommended compaction temperature is 160℃ and the powder fineness is 40 mesh. When the powder content is 25%, the recommended compaction temperature is 160℃ and the powder fineness is 20 mesh.
