Abstract
Human visual feature plays an important role when an image is enhanced for human being to see/watch, thus how to combine human visual features into image enhancement algorithm will get better visual effects. In this paper, a new image enhancement algorithm based on wavelet transform combining human visual features is proposed. In the proposed algorithm, a contrast sensitivity function (CSF) mask is created for each subband which is used to weight the wavelet coefficients in the subband so that the reconstructed image will be enhanced with visual features. The proposed algorithm is used to enhance images for visually impaired and simulation was used to test the effectiveness. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can get better enhancement effectiveness than our previous algorithm without fusing visual features.
