Abstract
© 2015 by Taylor & Francis Group, LLC. Biophysical and biochemical measurements are important in diagnosis, patient monitoring, and research in the medical field of obstetrics and gynecology. Although the reader will find that there are many different types of physiological measurements in this clinical area, the major application of this technology has been during the time period surrounding birth, the perinatal period. Other measurements in both obstetrics and gynecology are primarily involved with diagnosis, and many of them have been limited to the research laboratory or clinical research so far. In this chapter, we will look at applications of physiological measurements in both obstetrics and gynecology.
