Abstract
This article reviews the two divergent paradigms of economy and ecology and contemporary attempts at integration into a sustainability paradigm. It then explores how the concept of land and its specific manifestation in place offer an alternative integration that taps the Jungian realm of symbol and mythologem. © 2004 Sage Publications.
