Abstract
A simple, low cost, evaporation-monitoring system for producing highly reflective, multilayer dielectric mirrors suitable for use with a helium-neon laser is described. Seventeen layer mirrors with reflectivity exceeding 99% have been constructed. Practical considerations such as substrate surface preparation and prevention of water absorption by the evaporated layers are discussed. © 1972., American Association of Physics Teachers.
