Abstract
© 1992 IEEE. Some systems, which are driven by standard ac power, are sensitive to immediate application of voltage when the system has been off for an extended period of time. It is desirable to detect any shut-off of voltage supplied to these systems and, when the voltage supply is restored, gradually increase the voltage seen by the system to full voltage operation. The circuit described in this paper accomplishes this desired protection of systems. This circuit may also be used as an ac voltage regulator. Both of these functions are accomplished by using an active device as a variable resistance in series with the load.
