Abstract
An advanced protection concept incorporating the latest technology current sensors and multifunction relays that provide primary protection, as well as fast and conventional backup protection is presented. The protection function is performed both locally and over a communication network. Protection is improved by the relays making decisions faster with new algorithms and by exchanging information with other relays.
