Abstract
The efficiency of two approaches to cloaking cylindrical objects by using dielectric materials, one based on transformation optics and employing resonant metamaterials and another one based on scattering cancellation and employing ordinary dielectrics, is quantitatively compared. The extension of the cloaking approach using ordinary dielectric materials to designing spherical cloaks is proposed. © 2013 IEEE.
