This session provides an overview of using Canvas for staff and student departmental training. We'll explore the platform's core functionalities and demonstrate how to leverage its features to create engaging, effective, and accessible training modules. This is a hands-on workshop with a mix of instructor-led demonstrations and exercises. Computers will be provided, and you can bring your own laptop if you choose. Participants are encouraged to bring their own training materials to begin building their first module during the session. This training is ideal for anyone responsible for creating, delivering, or managing departmental training for staff and students. This includes, but is not limited to, department heads, program coordinators, and administrative assistants.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

• Navigate the Canvas interface and understand its key components.

• Design and build a training module from scratch, incorporating a variety of content types.

• Create and manage assignments, quizzes, and discussions to assess learning and facilitate collaboration.

• Utilize the Gradebook to track participant progress and provide timely feedback.

• Publish and share training content with specific groups of staff or students.
