Abstract
The irradiation of a powder sample containing spin-1 nuclei by two of the three characteristic nuclear quadrupole resonance (NQR) frequencies can result in several echo signals at the third frequency. As such, secondary echoes in both sodium nitrite and RDX were experimentally demonstrated and showed how their shape, size, and time of occurrence were consistent with single-frequency echoes and a static distribution of EFGs. This paper shows how the secondary echoes reveal the correlation between the observed transition frequency and one of the excitation transition frequencies.
