Abstract
Snow load is an important load in seismic design, especially for those sites where both seismic and snow load are significant. In ASCE 7-05, the snow load factor is determined using the Turkstra's rule, which tends to be unconservative for those sites. In this paper, the Filtered Poisson Process (FPP) is used to simulate snow load for Stampede Pass, WA, and the reliability index is found to be lower than the present code level. © 2009 ASCE.
