On the Evaluation of Tri-diagonal Secular Determinants

Abstract

A method of solution is presented for certain high-rank tri-diagonal secular determinants whose elements along the principal diagonal occur with periodicity. Such determinants are encountered in a wide range of problems dealing with coupled vibrating systems.
