Abstract
An analytical solution for the symmetrical lateral extrusion process based on slip line theory is presented. The analysis incorporates the stress equations modified for strain-hardening and the conventional First Theorem by Hencky. Material flow, material strength, and forces for extruding 6061-0 aluminum are thus analyzed. The calculated ram forces are found to be in substantial agreement with experimental results. © 1979 by ASME.
