Of the four seasons winter presents the most hardships. Deep snow and blizzards force many people, especially the elderly, indoors. The crisp air steals heat from homes and money from the homeowner's pocket book. Slippery paths are the cause of many twisted ankles and hurt ego's. Colds and flu spread quickly leaving people miserable. Large accumulations of snow damage buildings and homes. Snow becomes an obstruction which has to be constantly brushed off of cars, plowed off the streets, and shoveled off of roofs. But how does one make winter bearable? [From Introduction]
