This year, as it has each year since 1934, Blue Key National Honor Fraternity is sponsoring the Michigan Tech Winter Carnival. Blue Key is an honorary service fraternity for outstanding upperclassmen. Blue Key was established at the University of Florida in 1924 by Dean Riley, then a member of the faculty. The purpose in establishing Blue Key was to coordinate activities between various campus organizations. Since the aim of Blue Key is to develop the leadership abilities of its members, the Michigan Tech chapter feels it best accomplishes this through the sponsorship of Winter Carnival. Winter Carnival is the main project of Blue Key and. preliminary organization of the Carnival begins as early as October. Each person not only participates in a committee, but attends a weekly Blue Key meeting which coordinates all Carnival activities. [From introduction.]
