Abstract
The kinetics of phase layer growth during the aluminization of Fe and during subsequent heat treatment (homogenization) were investigated. Pack processing was employed for aluminization; the variables studied were temperature, time, amount of Al powder in the pack and the Al powder particle size. Homogenization was studied as a function of temperature, time and extent of prior aluminization treatment. A predictive model was developed to describe the changes in coating microstructure as a function of processing parameters. © 1977.
